After more than 25 years as a reporter, writer and editor in the print medium-10 and a half of them as editor of ADVANCE for Imaging and Radiation Therapy Professionals-I'm embarking on a new mission in the highly trafficked realm of cyberspace, the final frontier of radiologic journalism.
As co-editor of the new ADVANCE for Imaging & Radiation Oncology, my task now is to lead development of www.advanceweb.com/imaging, our Internet address.
From staying in touch with friends to conducting work-related research, I've come to appreciate what the Web can do for me. Now the challenge for me and the ADVANCE crew is to build and improve upon the corner of space we've colonized on the Internet.
I'm all a-Twitter (pardon the pun) over the possibilities. In addition to Web-exclusive departments, lively blogs and original features, we've added exciting multimedia offerings such as Web casts, Webinars, photo galleries and audio elements, to name a few. For a great multimedia example, check out the "how-to" video we're featuring this month on ultrasound of the shoulder.
We have an important mission ahead of us, and we'll look for your feedback and assistance as we seek out new opportunities among worlds like Facebook and YouTube for the purpose of serving the fields of medical imaging and radiation oncology.
We may not be going where no man has gone before, but I promise you, we will go boldly.
